Long Live The Lion King

Updated: May 13, 2020

I have to say, I was like a kid all over again as I watched the live action remake of The Lion King last Friday. Of course, we had to make it a family affair. So, myself along with my two daughters, mother and my little sister were in attendance. The 1990's remake was exciting, funny, and the original songs were on point. We were all in chorus singing along. And the plot still left us in tears as if it was the first time watching Mufasa being betrayed by his brother. I didn't like the fact that they left out one of the most memorable lines of the movie. "Ooooh, Mufasa. Say it again. Mufassa, Mufassa, Mufassa!" I really was expecting that part. Also, the CGI for the mouth movement was not enough.

I applaud every actor's performance and the fact that Earl James Jr. came back as Mufassa was a must. But, I must say, even though I'm a Beyonce fan, I think she could have given a little more energy as Nala. But she is a Queen and who is better to play the role of the King's better half than the Queen Bey herself! So, overall I give The Lion King 4 stars out of 5. The original still reigns No. 1 of course!
