In the past twenty years that my husband and I have been married, it seems as if we have moved just as many times as the years of matrimony. And as I look back, each move was literally during a new transition in our live. Our first apartment was moved into after only 6 months of dating. And our second apartment was after we got married. Then our third move was after my husband was granted his permanent residence, and the fourth move was my first month of pregnancy with our first daughter. That was so exciting. Because we even didn’t know that I was pregnant. And there were plenty of more moves along the way. But I remember our first time moving together was very easy. I was moving from my parent’s house with only my clothes, a little 13” tv, and a plethora of shoes. While my husband on the other hand, only had a bed, very minimal work clothes and a 19-inch television. And to all my millennials. Yes! We had 13” and 19” televisions with a huge back side! But with very minimal items to carry, a few bags and a bed were the move for us. Not much heavy lifting required.

But after two years of accumulating furniture, and yard sale finds, that second move was not so easy. Not only did we collect more things, but we had to carry all these things up three flights of stairs. And guess who got to do all the fun lifting? It was just me and the hubby. Here’s a tip for you ladies. If you ever want to know how much your husband really loves you, ask him to carry your furniture up three flights of stairs. Yeah, he wasn’t too happy about that. But we are still married lol! Well, he must really love your girl, because a couple of years late we decided to move to another third level resident. At least this time my husband asked someone to help. But still with only one other person helping, it was a strain on him and stressful for me to watch.

Fast forward to some years later. The year 2017 to be exact. We moved again, but this time it was a one level single family house. Needless to say. My husband was happy. Not happy about packing and moving everything again, but happy the unloading was only from the driveway to the front door. But throughout each move, the one thing that I always wanted to do was just hire a professional mover. Well, when you have a husband like mine, who believes that he’s super man and can do it all, that never happened for us. Instead, we got sore back aches and swollen limbs from lifting so much. So, I promised my husband that the next time we move, I personally will be hiring a professional moving company. No doubt about it!

Easy DIY Moving Tips

1. Consolidate and downsize.

No one wants old baggage in a new relationship. So why would you want to carry all that old stuff that you don’t even like or need anymore. This will make less moving for you, and more space to buy new and prettier things in the new space.

2. Enlist family and friends to help with the move far in advance, if you won’t be hiring a professional moving company such as Muscle Movers Las Vegas LLC.

Do not wait until the day before moving to request for help. You will find yourself sore and disappointed. I’ve been there, done that and don’t plan on going there again.

3. Lift with your knees and not your back. I know it sound cliché, but it works. And your back will thank you for it.

4. And lastly but not least. Make moving fun! I know with all the chaos of packing and heavy lifting, one might ask “How can moving be fun?”

Well, how about playing your favorite music and doing karaoke during the drive. Or what about a pizza party while unpacking the boxes. Just make sure to clean your hands before touching the fancy China ware.

So, there you have it ladies and gentlemen. If you’re moving, please consider professional movers to do the heavy lifting for you. But if you can’t and you are moving yourself, ask for help and make it fun.

Less work for you. You will be able to free up more personal time to do less strenuous activities.

Less stress. Let the professionals worry about boxing, wrapping and protecting your precious valuables.

Less pain! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Lifting can cause back pain an unwanted soreness. And no one wants that!

Less dents and dings on your furniture. I can’t count how many tines my husband has scratched or damaged our furniture while moving. And because he would be so tired or frustrated from all the heavy lifting, his reaction would be, “Oh well!”

And I would be so upset, because then I would be forced to look at the unsightly dresser or bed frame. Which leads to a whole unwarranted conversation. But at least I got some new furniture out of the deal!

I hope you enjoyed the blog!😉
